The announcement was made on Friday, November 1, 2024, via a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
This platform facilitates various tax-related activities, including registration, filing, payment, and the issuance of Tax Clearance Certificates (TCCs).
The duty of FIRS in the society:
To assess, collect, and account for revenue accruing to the Nigerian Federation, and administer relevant tax laws.

What is the age limit requirement for FIRS?
For eligibility;
- You must be 27years old or below that age by December 31st 2024
- NYSC Completion: You must have completed the National Youth Service corps (NYSC) no later than 31st December 2021.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements include “a Bachelor’s Degree (or HND) in First Class/Second Class Upper Division” in relevant fields such as Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Economics, Law, Mathematics, Statistics, and several other disciplines.
The organization added that “relevant master’s degrees and professional affiliations (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, COREN, NSE, etc) will be an added advantage.”

Steps on How to Apply for FIRS 2024:
Step 1: Confirm your Eligibility.

Step 2: Go to the FIRS Recruitment Portal
Visit the Official Portal for the FIRS recruitment portal at www.firs.gov.ng/careers to begin your 2024 application.
Step 3: Create an Account
Click on the “Register” or “Sign Up” option to create a personal account. Provide a valid email address and set a secure password. Check your email for a confirmation link to activate your account.
Step 4: Fill the necessary section of your Applications Form
Login to the FIRS Recruitment Portal, Get an application form, Fill the necessary section carefully by providing all your personal information, Educational background, and Professional qualifications.
Step 5: Upload Required documents
Prepare digital copies of the required documents, including:
- Degree or HND certificate

Step 6: Choose Your Preferred Location
Select your preferred state for the role from the eight available locations: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo. Remember, successful candidates should be ready to work in any FIRS business location across Nigeria
Step 7: Review and Submit
Take a minutes to review all the documents you’ve provided in the form to avoid any error and once your information have been verified, you can now click the submit button. FIRS allows only one application per candidate, so ensure accuracy.
Step 8: Follow-Up Your Applications
After submission, monitor the FIRS recruitment portal and your email for updates. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stages, which may include aptitude tests, interviews, and medical screenings.
