According to statistics, Over 1,814,314 candidates sat for the examinations in 22,219 secondary schools across Africa.
WAEC Results 2024 Release Date:
Acting Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, said the Head of National Office (HNO), Dr. Amos Dangut will announce the release of May/June 2024 WASSCE at Yaba headquarters.
According to Dangut, In April 2024, out of 1.8million candidates, 902,328 (49.73%) Are males and 912, 016 females (50.27%).
They were examined in 76 subjects, made up of 197 papers while 30,000 secondary school teachers supervised the examination.
Over 22,000 students who wrote the examinations did so as awaiting results as few of them had already made their paper from previous examinations like WAEC GCE.
Some confectional universities and Private universities have already started their admission proper, with dates for the post-UTME screening/test.
According to the announcement from Dangut, He wrote;
“In tune with our recent tradition, the results of candidates sitting the examination will be released 45 days after the conduct of the last paper, while certificates will be printed and issued to schools in less than 90 days after the release of results.”
He noted that the results will be released along with the digital copies of candidates’ certificates, which can be accessed on the digital certificate platform.
Why the delay from WASSCE releasing May/June Results:
According to reports, The West African Examinations Council has decided to delay the release of the May/ June 2024 result to ensure that every candidate receives a fair verdict and to avoid punishing those who don’t deserve it.
The Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC), which is the highest decision-making body for WAEC exams, meets three times a year to review the conduct of exams and consider the outcome of investigations into exam malpractice.
Note: In the past years, WAEC have always kept their promise by releasing the SSCE results 45 days after the last paper of the exam. This year 2024, the 45 days Ultimatum ended on the 8th of August 2024 and the result was released on the 11th.
