Nigerian content creator Gilmore has spoken out about the doubts surrounding content creators’ financial success, especially regarding their ability to afford luxury items solely from content creation. In an interview with HIPTV, he addressed common beliefs that creators might have alternative income sources to sustain their lifestyles.
The interviewer questioned the legitimacy of luxury purchases, asking, “Some people doubt that the luxurious cars and houses being bought by content creators are bought with content creation money. Or are you guys adding plus and plus to it?” Gilmore replied, “It is. Content creation and being on set, making and editing videos, is a full-time job. People think we might be doing something else, but it’s exhausting enough as it is. Who has time for anything else?”
He emphasized the genuine earning potential within content creation, explaining, “If you understand how to tap into it, content creation can bring in good, legitimate money. We’re in an information age; it’s 2024, and everyone is on their phones. You just have to know how to work the media.” Gilmore added that although money wasn’t his reason for starting, it “comes through when you don’t force it.”
