American Billionaire Bill Gates has expressed his love for Afrobeats in a viral video, while revealing the Big 2 (Wizkid and Davido) and the new cats (Burna Boy & Rema) of Afrobeats.
Backing Davido’s claim, Bill Gates whose net-worth is estimated at $118 billion, spoke about the new wave of artistes driving the Afrobeats genre forward.
The American Magnate recent video reminds Nigerians about the Davido earlier statements that went viral in 2024, where he stated that he and Wizkid were the pioneers who took Afrobeats global, while categorizing Burna Boy alongside newer acts such as Asake, Rema, and Mayorkun.
Davido said; “Wizkid and I were the first young artistes to blow up and it feels good seeing new cats like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun and Asake killing it now.”
His statements sparked debate on all social media, with many tackling him on why he would have added Burna Boy with the likes of Rema, Omahlay, Fireboy, Asake and others.
Burna Boy, along the line reacted to the viral interview which sparked waves on all social media platform.
Some hours ago, the clip of Bill Gates mentioning that he was familiar with the performance of Afrobeats star, Wizkid and Davido surfaced online.

He also disclosed how he got to know Burna Boy and Rema when he was travelling down to Nigeria.
According to him, He said that his daughter, Phoebe was the one who told him while he was preparing for his trip to Nigeria.
In his word, He said;
“My daughter Phoebe told me that I would meet Burna Boy and Rema when I get to Nigeria, meanwhile Wizkid and Davido were the only Afrobeat stars I had seen perform before’’.
Gates added that after hearing the names, he had to use a search engine to look them up and learn more about the new artistes.
